Album Review: WAY UP - TNX

PNation has become synonymous with legends. Firstly, it's led by the K-Pop legend, Psy. But there's so many more iconic faces such as Jessi, HyunA, DAWN, Swings, Penomeco, and so much more. These artists have made PNation come out on top and become legendary. Now, PNation has decided to dip their toes into managing idol groups and they're living up to their legendary status with their debut boy group, TNX.

Formed on (and eventually winning) the reality show, LOUD, TNX has been on the radar of almost every K-Pop fan. Since PNation has never had an idol group and they've mainly been dipping their toes in hip-hop territory, it was going to be interesting to see what they would do. Plus, TNX members had proved themselves to be skillful in all areas so fans were eagerly awaiting for them to showcase those skills. But now they're here and their debut album, WAY UP, is one of the best debuts of the year.

WAY UP is full of the hip-hop and dance inspirations that PNation is known for. From the rap-heavy opener, WE ON, to the noise-pop title track, MOVE, this album is full of surprises. TNX are showing they are ready to show off what they can do and to make you move while doing so.

WE ON opens the album with some funky synths and explosive raps. It's a perfect opener in that it builds so well to ease you into the rest of the record. The chorus is lowkey but the heavy bass that plays throughout makes your eardrums explode. Not to mention the deep harmony in the chorus is immaculate. This song leads to the rocky, 180Sec. This song is a fun tune full of bluesy guitars and heavy drums. It's a song to get you clapping and moving. The little twist at the end is also a nice treat. Then, there's Burst Up, that's full of club beats and a flute. It's one of the standout moments in the record because it really doesn't take itself too seriously. The beat, raps, and vocals are just super fun and really make this song fun. It's definitely meant to be played at a party. The closer, Your Favorite Melody, is a wind-down, acoustic heavy tune that closes the record off in a sing-along. It feels very reminiscent of some Bigbang tracks. It's lighthearted and really ties the bow on this gift.

Then, of course, there is the title track, MOVE. This song is something so unexpected from a debut boy group. It's full of the dirtiest beats that will make your body shake. Their raps are on par with some of their senior groups. The vocals are magnificent and full of charm. They're declaring that everyone gets out of their way because they are about to eliminate any competition. And man, does it feel true. This song is nothing like what other groups that have debuted with before. It's so explosive and really makes an impact. Once you hear it once, it sticks in your brain and it doesn't leave. TNX really prove themselves to be on top.

TNX is nothing like you've ever heard before. PNation has really done it again with these guys. Their debut album is full of incredible talent that other rookie groups could only dream of. It's honestly one of the best debuts of the year if not for this entire generation of K-Pop. TNX is unforgettable and WAY UP is an album that demands your ears.
