Concert Review: Vanner - Boost Up Pt. 1 Tour - Lawrence, KS

Lawerence, Kansas is typically a quiet and cozy college town, but occasionally, events bring chaos and fire to it. On April 1, it was one of those nights. Vanner was playing at the Granada theater and sleuths of K-Pop fans lined the sidewalk ready to see this small group deliver a great show. And while the show itself was small, the heat that Vanner brought was not. I didn't go into this concert with the idea of writing a review. Vanner was a group that I was a casual fan of. But I went to the concert and left a completely different person and I needed to share why this show was so spectacular.

Vanner opened the show showcasing their insane choreography and swag with their hit song Form. The fans went absolutely nuts. And it was definitely warranted. This was to show the fans what was to come. They made the fans dance, sing, scream, and lose their minds. Every time a new member took to the mic it was absolute chaos. There were lots of moments like these. Songs like Upper and Purge Day sent the fans spiraling into madness. Not to mention the times they absolutely went crazy during dance breaks. The song, Nasty, was a real stand-out moment for that. They really brought the song to a whole different level. There was also a fun moment when they performed Trampoline. Talk about getting your exercise, I will never jump more in my life.

Along with these insane moments, Vanner also had their softer moments. Like A Star (which they dedicated to their fans) was a beautiful moment of connection between Vanner and the crowd who were singing their hearts out. Crying was also a great, chill moment but the crowd definitely still went feral. This is where I think their vocals were at their peak. The softer moments really let them deliver their best lines.

But the reason this review was written was not to talk about how they have some of the best stage presence (they really do though), it was to talk about how Vanner has one of the best connections with their fans that I have seen. It helped that the show was small so they could really interact with the fans. But even then, the love you could feel from these guys is something to behold. The way they looked at the crowd, the way they talked to the crowd, and answered fans' questions on stage, were moments that stood out the most. Moments where they made the crowd go wild about their favorite food, Gon's funny faces, their covers that they performed, it was all from their heart. That really made me think differently about these guys. It's very rare to see an artist who loves what they do genuinely. And I think they deserve all the love given back which I think the fans did a good job of doing.

Vanner's show was life-changing almost. Not only was it an experience to see a K-Pop group on such a small stage, but it was also really cool to see them give it their all. Vanner really knows how to bring the heat in their stage presence. But they also know how to show genuine love to the people who gave them the stage they are on. And I think that is what made this show so much more enjoyable.
