The K-Pop market is extremely competitive. Every year hundreds of K-Pop groups debut and only a select few might survive disbandment or bankruptcy. Typically, these are groups from big companies who have money to spare. Other times, a group from a smaller company might stay afloat by the love of their dedicated fans and companies who won't give up. These groups are usually hidden gems and deserve to be recognized.

Vanner is the epitome of unappreciated. This is a 5 member group that debuted in 2019 under VT Entertainment. The members are: Taehwan (Leader, Main Vocal), Gon (Main Rapper, Main Dancer, Vocal), Hyeseong (Lead Vocal, Lead Dancer), Ahxian (Lead Rapper), and Yeonggwang (Vocal, Visual, Maknae). Their music can only be described as Dual, as in dual-energy. One minute they're singing a cutesy song about love and/or heartbreak and the next they're bringing the swag on a wild hip-hop beat. They really know how to do it all. Their vocals are absolutely incredible, their rap line really brings the heat, and their choreography is hand-made to perfection (member, Gon, typically does their choreos).

With all this in mind, it was a shock to see that their most popular song had only 180 thousand views. For such an all-rounder K-Pop group, it was truly surprising just to see how unappreciated they were. These boys are the true hidden gems of K-Pop and I'm here to share the treasure they bring. Debut Song: Better Do Better

These guys debuted with a song that really shows their flavor. It's a cutesy song with some nice summer-y production. Their vocals really shine and so does their rap style. There's also a cool slow-down bridge that really adds a whole different flavor to the mix. It's a great song to debut with that's for sure!

Most Popular Song: FORM

From the get-go it's so easy to see why this is their most popular song. Gon opens the song with the most intense hook and really drags in from that first second. The instrumental is noisy and intense and it really showcases their swag. This is a concept I really feel like they shine in. Their vocals are shining and the rap line is really showing their best flows. Form is every bit crazy but that's what makes it so good.

Recent Song: Rollin

Talk about duality. Vanner's latest comeback went from hardcore noise to a cute summer song. This song is a fun and charming bop. The instrumental features a nice warm synth and smooth drums that match perfectly with their amazing vocals. The song is climactic in the best way and it builds so beautifully. It's perfect for the upcoming warm weather.

Personal Favorite: LACHATA

Sometimes there are bops and other times there are songs that transcend everything and infect your body and become the only thing you can listen to and think about. Okay maybe that's just me, but it does not change that this song transcends the word bop. It's got a funky beat that gets your body moving. The vocals are heavenly and carry the chorus to your brain where it will get stuck in your head. The raps are also wild and the back and forth that Gon and Ahxian do in this song is euphoric. This song demands your attention and a spot on your playlist.

What Album To Start With: 5cean : V

5cean: V shows all of Vanner's true colors in 3 songs. This single album features a heavy hip-hop-based opener (Purge Day), a softer but fun title track (Crazy Love), and a soft ballad closer (Crying). It's a perfect album to dip your toes into Vanner's discography. It shows all their flavors and talents. It's a short album but it's definitely sweet.
