BAE173 are a group that has shown a lot of potential since their debut. While their concepts were cute, the skills they showcased were something to keep under your radar. Their rap line showed potential in their flows and the vocal line really knew how to work together to bring some great harmonies. And while personally, I'm not a fan of cute concepts I couldn't deny that these guys would release something that would blow my mind one day. Their recent comeback, Jaws, proved to be that song almost instantly.
Jaws opens with a traditional sample that leaves you hooked almost instantly. Then, BAE173 pulls you in with their addictive flows delivered from their rap line which are contrasted by insane melodies from their vocal line. Each member builds off one another which creates this insane build-up to the chorus. The song's chorus is almost euphoric after each verse. They really bring their energy to the chorus which is what makes this song so addictive. Then there's the bridge that is otherworldly. Their vocals shine through and leave goosebumps on your skin. This builds to the final chorus that has the most addictive hook known to man ("If you like that. Jaws I'll bite back."). Once the song finishes, you're only left wanting more.
BAE173's skills have always been shining but it's nice to see them pull off a mature concept. It really fits with the maturity they've already shown in their skills. Jaws is explosive, euphoric, and addictive. It demands your attention and leaves you speechless by the end. It's honestly one of the best title tracks of the year so far.
