Album Review: Don't Call Me - SHINee

Shinee are among the kings of K-Pop. These guys ruled the second generation with their undeniable talent with insane powerhouse vocals and dance talent. If you're a fan of K-Pop, you're automatically a fan of Shinee it's just how it goes. These guys have the world eating out of their hands so when it was announced that all the members had finally exited the military (Taemin still has yet to serve), everyone was waiting for the moment they would announce a comeback. Don't Call Me has been on my list of comebacks I'm most excited for since it was announced that they had made their long awaited return to music. And man, has the wait been worth it.

Don't Call Me has their usual style of music that K-Pop fans and even non-Kpop fans enjoy. It's groovy and funky and catchy. Everything you could enjoy from good music. But it also has little eccentricities that are surprising and fun. Don't Call Me is an experiential album that takes over your senses gets stuck in your head. Songs like Don't Call Me, Heart Attack, and Body Rhythm are groovy, dance-y, and are bound to get stuck in your head. The title track, Don't Call Me, especially has a hook that will get stuck in your head instantly (don't. call. me. don't. call. me). Heart Attack and Body Rhythm have these funky and groovy beats that will make you wanna bust a move.

Don't Call Me's title track is one of my favorite title tracks but the b-sides are also some of the best I've heard. Body Rhythm has this Latin-inspired beat with these groovy synths that are great for a low-key groove and dance. Attention has this fun synth instrumental and some of my favorite vocals from them. The falsettos are beautiful. Marry You is a very cute and very sweet song that has a beautiful harmony in the chorus. But the b-side that got me the most is from track, CØDE. This is a song full of synths that take over your eardrums and then the chorus kicks in with these amazing harmonies. It's beat is very reminiscent of the 80s and I just love it so much. This is definitely my favorite track from this album.

Shinee really gifted fans with Don't Call Me. It's them showcasing that they still got it even after a long hiatus. It's been 3 years since their last release and man it's really worth the wait. This album will take over your mind and every song is catchy on every level. Once you start listening you won't be able to stop. Don't Call Me is a perfect experience for both old and newer fans of Shinee and K-Pop in general.
