2PM debuted in 2008 and have had quite an expansive career. These guys have had hits after hits. Most notably, there's was My House, which remains one of the most popular K-Pop songs ever. But they haven't had a comeback since 2016 because of mandatory military service for the members. K-Pop has certainly missed them though with their classy sound and soulful vocals. So it was only natural for them to make a comeback where they are classier and sexier than ever before.
MUST spans 9 original tracks and an acoustic version of My House. Each track features 2PM's signature soul and sexy sound. It's truly a wonderful album to experience. Songs like The Cafe, Moon & Back, Hold You, and the title track, Make It, feature their soulful vocals and soft, groovy sound. But there are also songs like On My Way and Champagne that have some nice dance breaks. It's a versatile record that is as expansive as they are.
The title track, Make It, is truly a good way to introduce the record. It opens the album (after a jazzy instrumental intro track) with some funky guitars and a jazz-sounding piano. The chorus also features a groovy bass that makes this track totally danceable. Their sweet-like-honey vocals are nicely contrasted with Taecyeon's raps. Everything fits so well together. It's a song that's not made to be missed out on.
Make It is also among some incredible b-sides. Moon & Back has a low-key synthy instrumental that caters well to their sweet vocals. It's a perfect love song. The Cafe also shares the same vein as Moon & Back. This time they shine over some piano. Their raps here are actually surprisingly very fitting in a song like this. These are a stand out here. Two of Us starts off as a soft ballad that builds up to a pleasant chorus. On My Way also has a nice build as well. It builds up to this dance beat that is made to fit their soul-like vocals. Then there's the standout track in my book Champagne. This track is unexpected but it fits well in the album. The instrumental is noisy but not over-done to the point where it stands out too much. It's a fun party song to maybe get the party going.
MUST is an album that needs to be listened to. As someone who knows very little about 2PM it was certainly an album that I didn't expect to like so much. But this album is beautiful, sexy, classy, jazzy, fun, and just all-around pleasant to listen to. After 5 years away from the industry, it's hard to believe that they still have it. But this album really proved that they still can do it. You MUST listen to this album (see what I did there).
