Album Review: The Awakening: Written In the Stars - Cravity

Cravity are a group that I really feel gets better with every comeback. They debuted last year with Break All the Rules and to see them grow in just a short amount of time has been interesting. They've seemed to grow into their own sound and style and that was evident in their release, My Turn, and the subsequent mini-album Hideout: Be Our Voice. This put them more on my radar than they already were. Now, they've dropped their first full-length album and now it's evident that they have really grown into their sound and matured in just over a short span.

Written In The Stars is an album that is full of noise and insane beats that are made to be danced too. But it's also got some low-key moments that really let their talents shine. It only spans 8 tracks but it's so jam-packed full of insane moments.

The title track, Gas Pedal, is truly the defining moment. It's the first full song after the intro and here you have an insane edm beat with raps that slap you in the face with awesomeness. These guys have only been around a year, but they're delivering some vocals and flows that are on par with their senior groups. There's also the insanely catchy chorus that is an instant ear-worm. It's a perfect title track because it really showcases each member and their skills so well.

The b-sides on this album are also top tier and really compete with Gas Pedal. Veni Vidi Vici was a surprising tune because it started off a low-key track with this nice guitar and trumpet instrumentals. But then it built to this crazy chorus that has some of the best harmonies and vocal progressions I've ever heard. It's not to be missed. There's also the wild Chinga-Linga that is as catchy, if not more catchy, than Gas Pedal. Its noisy instrumental and crazy raps made this an instant add to my playlist. The album closes off with some low-key bops like Divin' that really showcase their vocal line beautifully over a nice synthy instrumental. It's perfect for the remaining summer weeks. Go Go is also very similar as it's sung over a nice, mellow guitar instrumental. It's a great way to unwind from what the album opened with.

Cravity really put out an album that isn't meant to be slept on. It really competes with the top albums of the year for me. They've showcased their skills amazingly with catchy hooks, insane progressions, crazy raps, and beautiful vocals. It's an album that has something for every playlist so I totally recommend you check it out!
