Cube Entertainment has blessed the K-Pop world with many K-Pop groups like Pentagon, CLC, (G)I-Idle, BtoB, 4Minute, and many more. Every one of these groups has its own flavor and style so it was going to interesting to see how their newest group LIGHTSUM would fit. But like all of Cube's other groups, LIGHTSUM are ready to carve their own path.
Featuring 8 members, LIGHTSUM decided to come out strong on this debut track Vanilla. I was a little hesitant about it because I'm not a big fan of cute concepts and it looked like one. But these girls really throw you in for a loop. While the song itself is a cute and summery tune, it certainly isn't bad. It's one of those songs that just really works and is enjoyable and not too sweet. But this song also throws a twist in there with a crazy dance break. It's groovy and a bit crazy which makes it digestible. It's a song that is just made to be fun and enjoyable.
The girls of LIGHTSUM are also showing extreme promise with their vocals and raps. The harmonies that they deliver in the chorus are on par with their seniors. The rap portion in this song is also really catchy and delivered really well. Their voices just really fit the concept that they deliver here.
LIGHTSUM really delivered a song of the summer here. It's fun, dance-y, and bright. They really pulled out all the stops here and I'm OBSESSED. This is truly one of my favorite debuts of this year. I'm excited to see where these girls go.
