Song (Re)Discovery: Dancing in the Rain - Lacuna

I'm a very easy person to please when it comes to picking songs to add to my jams. While it can be a blessing (eg. I am constantly on top of new music and listening constantly) it can be a curse. I tend to lose songs after only one listen and they become hidden in the piles of other music that I also add. Dancing in the Rain by the band, Lacuna, was one of those songs. I remember watching this video way back in the spring and really enjoying the song but I quickly forgot about it. Now, it seems to be everywhere on my TikTok and I became aware of it once again which made me question why I forgot about this song in the first place.

This song starts off as a soft, acoustic ballad where the lead singer, Kyungmin, almost whispers over the instrumental. His voice starts off very delicate but it really builds up nicely into the explosive chorus. The chorus is really what makes this song so amazing. It has this beautiful melody and vocal progression that almost brings a tear to my eye. There's also the instrumental is booming but also very delicate at the same time. It really sets a nostalgic feeling that continues for the entire song. This building continues as the instrumentals in the bridge really hit their peak. There are some nice guitar solos that help the explosion in the last chorus.

I've seen many people say it's perfect for a rainy day or running away or for a movie soundtrack and it really is. The way the song grows as it goes on makes it perfect for the peak of a movie. It's just a beautiful tune that feels like should be a movie in itself. It's perfection and I'm sad I forgot about it. May that never happen again.
